'Vedic' Astrology -The Sanskrit Language Weeps!

The term 'Vedic' has been frequently used or rather misused of late especially since the days of the Globalisation .It is not the fate of the word 'Vedic' alone but of many such divine words of Sanskrit origin. these words have been in use for some years the way the users like. As these words cannot claim any copyright under the present international law in force they have been subject to torture for years. I am afraid usage of words without understanding or imbibing the real meaning of the word and the culture of the place of its origin would simply be substituting such words for meanings they dont represent or can never represent. One such grave mistake is the use of 'Guru' which has become popular in English or rather has been added to its vocabulary to mean an 'Expert'. One does not understand the grave mistake one does to the ancient language and the civilization in which the word was originated. The word 'Guru" has a divine connotation in Sanskrit as it represents the great "Preceptor" ,who not only is the embodiment of all knowledge, but one who guides, directs and moulds his disciple. It is in this context, the present usage of the word "Guru' to simply denote an expert in a field is not only a mismatch but also an insult to the real meaning of the root word in Sanskrit. I can quote many such instances, but it is not my endeavor to write an introduction to the added Vocabulary of Modern English, a fast developing and respected Universal Language of the boundary less World. However the basic caution or rather precaution while using the words of other languages needs to be followed by anyone who uses such words , so that the sentiments of millions are not hurt.
