Gems have been in use as ornaments on jewelery of the rich and the rulers from time immemorial. The scarcity in availability of natuaral stones and consequent high prices always made them beyond the reach of the common man. However many semi-precious stones which were not as costly as the original ones were also being used by the poor and the impoverished. Later on as the income of the common man increased and also the availability of gemstones, cross-section of the people started using gemstones as jewellery. The use of gemstons as remedial instruments in astrology is perhaps as old as the Indian classical astrology . Varahamihira in his famous astrological treaties refers to the nine gemstones that could be used with benefits for malefic influence of planets. However many eyebrows have been raised on the efficacy and results of using gemstones as astrological antidots.Perhaps conflicting results for individuals could be one of the reasons for such reservations.In my astrological journey for the last four decades , I have been suggesting different kinds of remedies and karma reversal techniques to make the life of my clients peaceful and prosperous irrespective of the source of its origin . As an astrologer who does not have a taboo for any system of spiritual intervention to make the life of people better, I have studied Indian classical system of remedies , western spells , region specific intricate spiritual remedies as well as universally known gemological remedies. We are now confined in this write-up only to discuss their results and efficacy of gemological remedies. From my four decades of experience as a gemologist, I am of opinion that gems are the quickest ànd easiest remedy one can perform for many planetary problems. However I belong to the school of thought which subscribe to the view that the the influence of malefic planets cannot be remedied by gems,rather the use of gems of malefic planets calls for close scrutiny and thorough examination of the birthchart. Many a time I have observed astrologers suggesting stones that represents malefic planets to ward off the evil influence of those planets Which could be counterproductive to say the least. The favourable weak planets are normally targetted by gemstones.The principle used behind gemstones to me is the substitution of essential elements of a human body when the imbalance of it creates serious problems. It is advisable to use the original gemstones of Navagrahas ie,Ruby,pearl, Red Coral Emerald , Yellow sapphire, Diamond, Blue sapphire , Gomedh and cats eye instead of its imitations. One advantage for the gemological remedies us it lasts for long and could be worn by anybody and no rituals are required. Believers and non believers and people belonging to the cross-section of religions could wear them. Normally the effect of gemstons is pronounced within a month , although certain high power stones like blue sapphire and red coral could show its effects instantaneously . One should take extreme care before wearing the gemstones of malefic planets and should get the advice from an experienced and knowledgeable astroleger cum gemologist without fail.
